Daydream

I fell asleep beneath the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day”

Ely.

There is always a certain calmness when I go home. Home is more than a place; it’s a feeling. On the drive home, my mind slips away and I feel still. To not think about anything is nearly impossible, but when I am home, there is an absence of worry. My senses are heightened and each tree looks especially beautiful. Ojibway Lake looks especially radiant. A smile is especially treasured.

I go home to engage my senses all over again. To taste mom’s homemade cooking. To sip some french press and feel the sunshine. To listen to my mind and body for a few days. There are no deadlines when you are home. Just breathe. And enjoy.

Now and then, take time for yourself and go home.

Hats: A Photoshoot

Casey has released the first few photos from a project launched in December 2010.

“[There are] so many unique hats in Duluth, like the personalities of the people who wear them [...] I asked a diverse group of people to wear their “favorite” hat, encouraging berets, Twins hats, beanies, ear muffs, homemade hats, bomber hats, Swix hats, etc…..I chose the background to be the brick on the Fitgers building.”

Look forward to more, and a final project, sometime later this spring. – Ed.
